adidas – Impossible Goalkeeper

For the opening of the EuroCup 2008, we built a 61m tall version of worlds #1 goalkeeper Petr Cech with 8 arms spinning along the ferris wheel of the Prater amusement park in Vienna, one of the cities dearest landmarks. Petr Cech became an unbeatable goalie you could take a ride with.

5 TV channels and over 25 newspapers, news agencies and portals, were there to cover one piece of advertising. In a matter of hours major news, like BBC, BILD and USA Today featured it in their print or online versions. 

One day later, it reached major Brazilian and Argentinean football news, but also the cover of the biggest Hungarian newspaper and the Chinese TV. Four different TV channels broadcast live from the installation during their game transmissions. 

In a 2km radius, it was seen live by over 1million fans and became the symbol of the event. A week before the final, the press declared adidas the winner of the EuroCup run among sports brands, recognized by 30% of the audience, against 12% for the competitors.
